Covid 19

Citizens’ Climate Lobby (Australia) Inc. (CCLA) is committed to safe and inclusive events and gatherings.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby Australia (CCLA) is aware of the ongoing risk that COVID-19 presents to all Australians. Ensuring the health and safety of volunteers, members, staff and the general public is a priority for CCLA. CCLA is also aware that it has duties and obligations under Australian law to ensure the safety of its members, volunteers and staff during this difficult time. We appreciate all the work that our excellent volunteers and members have put into helping CCLA achieve our vision of a liveable world. We want to ensure that this mission will continue, despite the difficulties that COVID-19 presents. The purpose of this Policy is to manage the risks that COVID-19 poses both to people working with CCLA and the public at large, and provide options for continued participation in CCLA.

1. CCLA Events

We ask that the organisers of any CCLA event ensure that all laws and health directives relating to COVID-19 are adhered to. We encourage event organisers to contact their local or State health authority if they are unsure about which laws currently apply in their area.

Where face to face meetings are permitted, we encourage  all CCLA volunteers and members participating in such meetings to take steps to mitigate the risk of transmission. Such steps may include the wearing of masks, asking for proof  of vaccination, or switching to online events. CCLA encourages all volunteers to be fully vaccinated. This is to ensure the safety of our volunteers, their families and the community at large. We encourage anyone organising a CCLA event to make an assessment of the best way of reducing or eliminating the spread.

We ask anyone who is a close contact of a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case to not attend any in person CCLA event.

This policy also applies to all participants in tabling events where CCLA volunteers are interacting with members of the public.

2. Information for Group Leaders

CCLA wishes to remind all Group Leaders that they have a duty of care to ensure the safety of persons within their group when volunteering with CCLA. To mitigate risk we encourage all Group Leaders to be double vaccinated, along with all volunteers (and members of the public) participating in face-to-face meetings or events.
