Making friends with your government representatives

There’s lots of folks in government to meet: 🇦🇺

How to lobby:

Write ✍️

  • Email your local representative

  • Write an opinion piece or letter to the editor directly addressing a government official

  • Hand-write a letter and deliver it in person to a representative’s office.

Meet 👋

  • Contact your local representative and ask for a meeting. It might take a few tries!

  • Find a group of friends and CCL Australia members to come along and support you

  • Get support from CCL Australia on planning and running a great meeting.

Organise 💪

  • Organise an event with multiple representatives to talk about policy

  • Create a local group that can support each other doing ongoing lobbying

  • Share your wins and pains with the wider CCL Australia community 😊

It’s always more fun together.

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Join the fun, be in CCL!

The three kinds of lobbying

  • Political

Meeting your political representatives to talk about climate change in a caring, non-partisan way that’s all about listening.

  • Grassroots

This is all about citizens talking to citizens, whether it’s setting up a table at a local farmers’ market, or an event with a local politician.

  • Grasstops

Making friends with community leaders, including executives, religious and cultural leaders and our elders.
